We visited Austin July 2 through July 9th and had such a great time.
We divided our time between James & Lonna's house and Alan & Tricia's house.
The DVD we sent Lonna to get Gwen used to us worked really well. She was our friend from the moment we walked in and we loved every moment we spent with Gwen and her parents. One of my special memories was Brent and Gwen exploring the Botanical garden together. I think they made a new world record for touching new things while they were there.
The 4th of July at Tricia's house with all of her kids and James's family and us was really fun. We ended the evening by listening to a free Austin Symphony concert (only an hour, my favorite length of concerts) and then watching the fireworks while the symphony played Sousa marches. James was able to finish his and Ryan's movie enough so we could see it. We are continually amazed at James and Ryan's creative talents! Lonna, Gwen, Tricia, Brent & I did a lot of exploring together, stores, food, etc. In fact we literally ate our way across Austin. We ate out 6 times in 7 days. Favorites include Kirby Lane pancakes and Rudy's barbecue.

Ryan and I have found Austin to be pretty awesome as well! I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. What better hosts than James and Lonna, Alan and Tricia? I too am very glad we had a Rudy's experience. I have been craving most of those food places since we got back--in October.

p.s. I'm glad the DVD was such a hit with Gwen. My girls have been enjoying your concerts as well.
I think that someone in our family should pitch a t.v. show about eating your way across Texas. I would sign up for sure. Maybe James and Ryan should make that next. That way we wouldn't have to use the apartment. Gwen is still obsessed with your video.
