Those of you who aren't from Mt. Pleasant might find this an odd tradition. The Junior Prom held at North Sanpete High School is more of a coming out dance or Cotillion like they hold back east. Each Junior who commits to attend is lined up with a corresponding male or female Junior, all decided by height. Then they practice doing the NS initials and the year they graduate then a choreographed dance that includes them all. The Prom is held for two nights, Friday night is guy ask girl and Saturday night is girl ask guy. Many of the northern parts of the county attend, including parents, grandparents and just citizens. Each Junior couple comes out together and stands in the middle of the floor while their name, parents and where they are from is announced. It doesn't matter how many Juniors there are, they are each announced individually, then they do their group Promenade and dance. After this, each parent takes either their son or daughter and has the first dance with them. I loved dancing with my sons and Brent loved dancing with his daughters. Then everybody goes home except High School kids who stay for a dance. This goes on for both nights. I don't know if Jen has forgiven me yet for making her attend the Junior Prom, but I live in hope!

I can not believe how old Doug and Julies kids are getting. I think that means all of us(Brent and Sylvia Barlow's Kids) are really old.

They never did anything like this at my high school, but we had so many student in each class that we could have been there for a week straight. I think that this is a fun little thing that each night you can go with a different person. Hopefully someone that you want to go with.
How cute that you get to dance with your parents. I bet that Doug and Julie are so glad that you were able to get this little photo.
