California Vacation #5

Thursday, May 28, we drove down to Southern California, Orange County in particular. There we took photos of many of our stomping grounds when we were in our teens. This banner is significant, because when I and my brothers and sisters were attending La Quinta High School's marching band (our Dad was the director) we always, always marched in the Strawberry Festival parade and often took sweepstakes. (for those of you who don't know what that means, it means we received the best trophy out of all the attending marching bands. It is a big deal)
Here is La Quinta, my alma mater. It is located in Garden Grove, Calif.

Here is one of our rival high schools. This is where Brent attended. Bolsa Grande High School. It is also in Garden Grove, Ca. I married him anyway. To put this into some perspective, our school district, the Garden Grove Unified School District, had 7, 4 A high schools in it. Our graduating classes had 800+ students. (4 A high schools have between 1,800 and 2,400 students approx) Somewhat different from North Sanpete High school.
This is a side view of Brent's high school. To the left is a park where Brent and I used to wrestle before we were married and give each other bruises we had so much sexual tension between us! I love these purple flowering trees. Brent looked them up for me to see if I could grow them in Mt. Pleasant. They are Jacaranda trees and of course Mt Pleasant is too cold for them.

It is fun to see your high schools. I like hearing about your history.

What school is it that's right around Dad's old house? I do love those trees, I think they are the same as the one here. I may have to just try one...
