A small town Halloween
I walked around the city with Brent and his class, yesterday. It brought back memories of Halloween with my children in the Elementary school. The entire Elem school goes on a walk approx a mile long, beginning with Far West Bank and then down Main street over to Wells Fargo Bank and then back up Main over to the Elem School. It takes a good 50 minutes for the entire route. The city police men were stopping the traffic so the kids so cross in safety. All the business owners stand out front of their stores and give out candy, sometime whole, large, candy bars. Wheelers drive in diner gave out Grandma wrapped cookies and a coupon for a free ice cream cone. Most of the business owners were in costume. The Mayor was dressed up and talking to kids as they walked by the City building and one of the office workers gave out candy. It is a big deal in Mt. Pleasant. There were a lot of parents camped out in their lawn chairs, along the route to watch the parade and they gave out candy too. It has become a bigger deal than when my kids when on the trick or treat walk.It made me remember why Mt. Pleasant is a good place to live.
