Mini vacation

Our spring break finally came and Brent & I went on a mini vacation to Orem, Ut. Not the joy capital of the world, but still a fun place to visit for old, tired people. We stayed at the La Quinta Inn (marvelous breakfasts included in the price). We went shopping a lot, a real pleasure for people who don't have any decent stores closer than an hour away. We saw the movie "National Treasure II" at the dollar theater and got a real deal with it only being .75 a ticket because it was Tuesday, were sorry we didn't pay more money for decent seats as the movie seats were real bun crunchers.
We stayed two nights. Wednesday we drove up to Salt Lake to see a play put on by the Salt Lake Acting company called "The Clean House" by Sarah Ruhl. We were sorry Ryan & my Mom couldn't see the play as the opening line is a joke told in Portuguese, a long joke and of course very few people laughed. I really enjoyed the play. It was a weird comedy. It basically is about a cleaning lady from Brazil who doesn't like to clean and is searching for the perfect joke. She cleans for a woman Doctor whose husband, also a Doctor (he is 35ish) leaves her for another woman, a patient of his who is 67 years old. ( I told you it was strange) It had many funny lines and they did such a great job presenting it. I still wish I knew what that first joke was about though.
We ate out many times, one of my favorite things and when we got home we still had Friday of vacation left. So it was perfect all around.

there is nothing quite like a mini vacation to give you a boost. It sounds like you had a really good time. I think that the play sounds funny. And I have been asking James to see the National Treasurer since it came out, and I have yet to see it. So much for being married to the movie guru.

Enjoyed reading about your mini vacation. I always miss you when you are out of town, though so glad you are home. Did you enjoy National Treasure II?

Love, Mom

Well I have to say I would take a vacation to Orem right now. It sounds fun. I hate plays were I don't understand the whole thing. I would have prefered to be there myself but since I couldn't I'm glad you had fun.

Hoorah for mini vacations! Any break from the daily routine is a treat.

If Ryan and I get to Walmart by ourselves we consider it a vacation, forget the 'mini'! It sounds like you had a blast, and your comments about that portuguese joke made me laugh! Not a great opening line, I agree. Ryan's portuguese skills come in handy more often than one would think. :) I'm so glad you had a good time and hey-next stop, Austin, TX! Which is perfect because the girls are going through grandma and grandpa Barlow withdrawals. :)
